Redis and Valkey remain highly compatible, but their performance characteristics are no longer identical.

To see how the two compare under practical cache workloads, I benchmarked Redis 8.10 against Valkey 9 using identical container resources, configuration, datasets, and a common benchmark client.

The tests focused on workloads that matter most for in-memory caching: GET, SET, read-heavy mixed traffic, and pipelined reads.
