Install Mysql 8 – Centos 8

sudo yum update
sudo yum install mysql-server mysql -y
sudo systemctl enable mysqld
sudo systemctl start mysqld

Now we need to set root password

By default, a MySQL installation has an anonymous user,
allowing anyone to log into MySQL without having to have
a user account created for them. This is intended only for
testing, and to make the installation go a bit smoother.

sudo nano /etc/my.cnf

Add at the bottom of the file

 default-authentication-plugin=mysql_native_password 

Restart mysql server and done!

sudo systemctl restart mysqld
